Troop 128 Girls

On February 1, 2019, the Troop 128 comittee in conjuction with leadership of St. John’s Episcopal church chartered one of the first Scouts BSA Girls troops  with five scouts under the leadership of Scoutmaster Becky Massaro.

In the intervening months Scoutmaster Massaro gave way to Scoutmaster Nick Guertin. The group has grown from five to 10 Scouts. The girls completed a New Scout campout in late March. They attended a Camporee in April. Two girls attended National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).

Seven girls participated in the Bowman Brigade program at Camp Bowman at Goshen Scout Reservation in late June. The girls learned the scout skills required to complete the Tenderfoot rank and are well on their way to completing Second Class requirements. Additionally, each girl earned two or three merit badges. They participated in camping, hiking, and canoeing activities. At the first evening’s flag ceremony, the girls retired the colors. By the completion of camp, they were one of two participating troops to earn the Camp Adventure Award (T128 Boys being the other)!

These girls are off to a great start. If you know girls who may be interested in joining the Troop 128 Girls, please contact us at scoutmaster-girls-at-troop128bsa.com.
